It's been a very long time since I did any canning. This was a great opportunity to start again.

I've done a variation from apples that i needed to use up. I did add cinnamon but didn't measure...lol...I waterbathed them for 20 minutes in quarter pint jars. Waiting for them all to seal. I heard 2 pops immediately so I'm hopeful. I did have to prepare more jars as I disnt have enough prepped. I thought I only had enough for 3 jars. Come to find out I needed 5 jars!! I did the first 3 then half way through after I sterilized the other jars, the last 2 were filled and put in the wb!! Hope I'm doing this right. I do feel accomplished knowing I'm doing this from scratch!! Thank Mel foe all you do for us and the teaching!!

One more question, which type of apple would work best for applesauce, sweet or tart?

It honestly depends on preference. I use any apple I have on hand or you can do a mix of both. I love McIntosh apples but that’s just my opinion.
