Turn cooking mode on
Step 1
In a bowl or standing mixer, add the yeast, water (about 110 degrees F), and sugar. Let sit for 10 minutes to activate.
2 tbsp Active dry yeast
1 cup Water
1/4 cup Sugar
Step 2
After 10 minutes, add the oil, beaten egg, and salt.
1/3 cup Avocado oil
1 Egg
1 tsp Salt
Step 3
Slowly add the flour and mix with your dough hook (or knead by hand) until a smooth dough forms.
3-3 1/2 cups Flour
Step 4
Divide the dough into 8 equal sections.
Step 5
Roll into a tight tube like shape, making sure to roll them the length of your hotdog. Place them onto a greased baking sheet only about 1 inch apart so that they rise up together and not out.
Step 6
Cover with a kitchen towel and let rest for 10 minutes or until noticeably puffy.
Step 7
Beat an egg and egg wash the top of your buns before placing them on the top rack in your oven.

Is there a way to make these with no sugar?

You could substitute the sugar for honey instead. I do this often and it’s great! Just use 3/4 the amount it says for honey😊

The "Basic White Bread" has low sugar, however, I often add a few tbsp of honey to replace it and it always turns out great!
